Популярный музыкальный журнал Rolling Stone три года назад опубликовал список 500 песен, которые объявлены лучшими для всех времен и народов. Взыскательное жюри из 172-х музыкантов, поэтов и исполнителей немало потрудилось, чтобы подготовить эту подборку песенной классики. В состав жюри вошли Джони Митчелл, Элвис Костелло, Арт Гарфанкел, основатель компании Motown Records Берри Горди и икона Тяжелого Металла Оззи Осборн. На первом месте рейтинга песня Боба Дилана Like a Roling Stone, в честь которой и был назван журнал, основанный в Нью-Йорке в 1967 году. В редакционном комментарии к рейтингу говорится, что эта песня как никакая другая изменила законы коммерции и художественные стандарты своего времени. В целом рейтинг Rolling Stone не несет в себе каких-либо неожиданностей. За песней Боба Дилана следуют Satisfaction и Imagine. Редакция обратилась к музыкантам, продюсерам, критикам и экспертам индустрии, попросив их составить свои списки "лучшей музыки" за последние 18 лет
Американский журнал Rolling Stone составил топ-100 лучших песен с начала XXI века, он опубликован на сайте издания и появится в печатной версии в номере за июль.
Для составления рейтинга редакция обратилась к музыкантам, продюсерам, критикам и экспертам индустрии, попросив их составить свои собственные списки лучшей музыки за 18 лет с начала 2000-х годов. На основании этой информации они представили итоговую версию "лучших песен века".
Первое место в рейтинге досталось Бейонсе c песней Crazy in Love с альбома 2003 года Dangerously in Love.
На втором месте - композиция Paper Planes британской певицы M.I.A. Замыкает тройку лидеров Seven Nation Army группы The White Stripes.
В топ-10 также вошли композиции Hey Ya! рэп-дуэта Outkast, 99 Problems рэпера Джея Зи, Maps американской инди-группы Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Runaway Канье Уэста, Rolling in the Deep британской певицы Адель, Royals новозеландской певицы Лорд и Last Nite группы The Strokes.
